Paul Marks, the founding Principal, established Marks, Thomas Architects in 1967. His leadership and vision along with his dedication to urban revitalization have been integral to the firm's growth into an award winning architectural studio and thriving architectural practice. Mr. Marks' 40 years of experience encompasses a wide variety of building types including housing and community design, educational facilities, continuing care retirement communities, office buildings, medical facilities, renovations of existing structures, as well as master planning and urban design. A board member of the Baltimore Waterfront Promenade, Mr. Marks' interest in the revitalization of Baltimore 's waterfront is exemplified in his lectures on urban projects surrounding the Inner Harbor . He is the Design Review Board Chairman of the UMBC research park, was president of the AIA Baltimore Chapter, and a former member of the Maryland Architectural Review Board.
