Cync Program

WHAT IS CYNC?
The Northrop Grumman and bwtech@UMBC Cync Program is an elite scholarship program that sponsors startup and early-stage companies with promising cybersecurity product ideas.  This program is designed for small US and international businesses in all phases of the technology development cycle. The overall intent of the program is to expedite the commercialization of innovative cybersecurity technologies and ideas.

WHO SHOULD APPLY?
Innovative, technology-driven startups addressing cyber, data sciences, big data, secure mobility and/or critical infrastructure protection. Specific focus areas include but are not limited to situational threat awareness, threat intelligence, visualization technologies, intrusion detection, risk analysis and secure communications. This is a highly COMPETITIVE program.

MORE ABOUT CYNC
Cync is entering its eighth year and has graduated ten companies to date, including an international company. The program supports four to six companies at any given time, each for approximately an 18-month term. The program provides qualified bwtech companies with opportunities for mentorship, partnership and collaboration.

Cync has been an extraordinary opportunity for us. As a Silicon Valley startup, we understand the incubator culture well, but CYNC’s ability to foster innovation, provide access to mentors and navigate the security and clearance hurdles specific to cybersecurity and the government sector have made it incredibly valuable for us as an emerging company.
