The USM IT Project Coordination Office is a cooperative effort of all University System of Maryland campuses to collaborate on the investigation, acquisition and implementation of appropriate solutions to the challenges of the next generation of Administrative and e-Learning Software. The USM IT Project addresses issues of new technologies and proposes specifications that define capabilities needed to support students, faculty and staff during the next ten-year cycle. It identifies commonalities among campuses, determines areas of cost effective collaboration, seeks partnership opportunities with vendors and provides a structure for decision making on approaches to software implementation. In addition to movement on new underlying technologies, the Project Office will propose new front end approaches using currently existing administrative systems to allow campuses to develop and implement additional services while transitioning to new information systems.
