UMBC has changed the name of its on-campus research and technology park to bwtech@UMBC in an effort to better market the project's strengths to the real estate community. "While our name has changed to better communicate our strengths, nothing else about the project has changed," said Ellen Hemmerly, executive director of the UMBC Research Park Corporation. "The new bwtech@UMBC remains focused on attracting firms in such high-tech fields as engineering, information technology and the life sciences." The new name emphasizes the 350,000 square-foot, 41-acre park located in the heart of the Baltimore/Washington corridor, close proximity to BWI Airport and I-95.
